What’s Our Story?
Using PIR Data to Elevate the Conversation Regarding Head Start Services

Calithea is a competent, innovative, team player with over 20 years in the field of Early Care and Education. She has over 12 years of direct Head Start experience providing management, training and technical assistance. Her extensive skills in capacity building in areas of data analysis, infant/toddler care, family childcare, home-based settings, natural play spaces, QRIS, CLASS, leadership development, business acumen, coaching, and systems building.

She currently serves as Systems Specialist within the Region IV T/TA Network. As a TN native, Calithea has worked as an Orientation Specialist with TECTA and as State Network Coordinator with the TN Child Care Resource and Referral Network. She is a leader in engaging community partners to support aligning services that support the early education workforce. In 2012, she was chosen as one of the National Association for Child Care Resource and Referral’s (now Child Care Aware of America) Rising Leaders. She prides herself in building remote teams and leading with passion. Some of her promising practices are highlighted in a book entitled, Working from a distance: Being your best when you are not with the rest.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies from the University of TN at Martin, a Masters of Science in Education from Freed-Hardeman University, and is expected to complete her Masters of Business Management in April 2020 from Western Governor’s University.
