New School with a Focus on Education

The City of Oak Ridge, which is a Head Start delegate , opened its new preschool at Scarboro Park. Oak Ridge Schools provided a sneak peak of the finished product in this video. The city broke ground on the new school back in January, 2019, and its opening day was postponed due to the pandemic. Principal Lisa Downum and her staff, serve children funded by Head Start as well as other grants, including Voluntary PreK in a setting that is now truly state of the art. Both typically developing and children with special needs may attend classes (with some transportation provided in the afternoons) or participate in virtual enrollment. Even family workers and therapists have amazing new space! Congratulations to this community-the vision to replace the charming (but dated) older school building that also housed the board of education, was clear in 2020!
